Darsana Karki

Operational Director

Darsana is a dedicated professional who began her career as a Learning Disability Nurse, graduating from Anglia University in 2003. Over the years, she has accumulated a wealth of experience in various healthcare settings, including acute mental health, Psychiatric Intensive Care Units, secure mental health units, mental health rehabilitation, autism, neuropsychiatric, and community services.
With a strong background in both mental health and learning disabilities, Darsana has held diverse roles within the Independent sector, spanning inpatient and community care. She furthered her education by completing a BSc (Hons) in Specialist Community Learning Disabilities in 2007.
Before joining Grove Park in June 2024, Darsana served as the Regional Director of Operations for community services, overseeing a wide range of services across multiple locations. She is passionate about ensuring the highest quality of care for service users and values the well-being of her teams. Darsana actively promotes the involvement of service users and their careers in decision-making processes regarding their care, striving for a patient-centred approach in all aspects of her work.

Megan Laverick-Smith

Deputy Hospital Manager

Megan began her journey in healthcare by earning a degree in Psychology from the University of Sussex. Driven by a passion for mental health, she pursued a career in mental health nursing, where she has gained extensive experience in inpatient care settings. Megan has worked across various specialties, including both Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and adult services, with a focus on acute and Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU).

Her expertise lies in providing compassionate and effective care for individuals experiencing severe mental health crises. Megan has a particular interest in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and is skilled in using these techniques to help others develop coping strategies and build meaningful lives.

Patrick Okoli

Director Of Clinical Services

An experienced Clinician with over 17yrs in mental health, Neuropsychiatry services, working in a fast paced and /or extremely challenging environments. Extensive experience in operational management , managing services in Mental health, acquired brain injury , CAMHS, PICU, Low and medium secure services and Older Adults. Patrick holds a double degree in Mental Health Nursing and Microbiology from South Bank University and University of Nigeria , and a Post Graduate Certificate in Management from Henley Business School. Throughout his career, Patrick has worked with the NHS and private Hospitals across UK. When his not working , he enjoys watching football, going to the gym and travelling.

An experienced registered nurse, she brings to the role a wealth of experience and an in-depth understanding of regulation and care standards framework.

Dr Mihaela Bucur

Medical Director, Consultant Psychiatrist

Dr Mihaela Bucur is the Medical Director of Grove Park Mental Health Unit, providing expert care for adults aged 18 and over, addressing a comprehensive range of mental health conditions. As a highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist and Certified Lifestyle Medicine Physician, Dr Bucur specialises in General Adult Psychiatry. Her expertise spans ADHD, OCD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, adjustment disorders, psychosis, stress, and lifestyle psychiatry.
In her capacity as Medical Director and Chair of the Mental Health Special Interest Group (SIG) at the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr Bucur is committed to advancing mental health care through a holistic and comprehensive approach. Her dual expertise in psychiatry and lifestyle medicine enables her to deliver personalised, compassionate care by integrating key lifestyle factors such as nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and social connections into treatment plans to enhance mental health outcomes and overall well-being.
Dr Bucur is a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, where she served as the Associate Registrar for Wellbeing and Retention from 2019 to 2022. She achieved certification as a Lifestyle Medicine Physician in 2020 through the International Board of Lifestyle Medicine.
Her postgraduate training includes a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychiatry and a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education. Dr Bucur has published numerous scientific articles in reputable journals, significantly contributing to the field. As Medical Director of Grove Park Mental Health Unit, Dr Bucur oversees clinical medical operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality mental health services, and fostering an environment of continuous improvement and excellence in patient care.
